About me

I’m Jagdish Bagul

Welcome to my blog! I’m an experienced and versatile IT professional with over two decades of expertise in IT infrastructure and cloud solutions. My career has been defined by a strong foundation in both public and hybrid cloud architecture, IT Infrastructure with a focus on designing, managing, and optimizing scalable IT solutions.

I began my career in IT when Windows 98 and Windows NT Server 3.1 were still widely used. It was a time when the digital world was just beginning to take shape, and I was eager to be a part of it. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing and contributing to the transformation of technology, particularly in the realm of Windows Server Operating Systems. From those early days to the latest Windows Server 2022, I’ve worked hands-on with each iteration, adapting and learning as technology advanced.

One of my most significant achievements in my early career was transforming a workgroup environment into an Active Directory environment, design and implement of Widows and Linux server infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, Print Server, Networking etc. at a well-known industries in India. Back then, this was a groundbreaking change, as many organizations were unaware of the security risks they faced. I took the initiative to implement security boundaries that were rare in those days. For example, I blocked USB ports using Active Directory group policies and set up a file server with role-based access control. It’s very common these days but that time people used to surprise by seeing these innovative possibilities of technology. These were big steps forward, especially when few people understood the true power and potential of technology in organizations, particularly in India.

During those days, solving technical issues was a real challenge because there weren’t many resources available on the internet to guide us. Unlike today, where answers are just a click away, back then, I had to rely on my problem-solving skills and perseverance. I often spent long hours, working through complex problems until they were resolved. This experience not only sharpened my technical abilities but also taught me the value of persistence and determination in overcoming obstacles.

As time went on, I continued to expand my knowledge and experience. I worked with Microsoft’s proxy and firewall solutions, starting with ISA(Internet Security and Acceleration Server) and moving all the way to Azure Firewall. I also became proficient with Microsoft System Management Server, progressing through to System Center Configuration Manager and eventually Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).

Throughout my 20-year career, I’ve done nearly every job imaginable in IT infrastructure. I’ve crimped network cables, patched cables into physical switches, and racked and stacked physical servers in datacenters. I’ve seen the evolution from tower servers to rack servers, then to blade servers, and finally to virtualization and cloud computing. I’ve dealt with everything from end-user problems to complex server issues. I’ve even cleaned dot matrix printer ribbons and fixed laser printers, while also managing Windows server and Linux Serves, IT Infrastructure in on premises datacenter.

My experience spans across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, banking, finance, insurance, food and beverages, transportation, energy, chemicals, and mining. I’ve worked on numerous complex IT infrastructure transformation projects, each with its own unique challenges. My work has been recognized and appreciated by customers, leadership, and managers alike, often earning me awards and accolades.

What sets me apart is my deep understanding of IT from both the end-user perspective and the broader business impact of IT infrastructure changes. I know how crucial it is to ensure that technology not only works but also adds value to the organization.

I have always been committed to continuous learning, staying updated with the latest technology trends through online courses, webinars, and industry forums. I’ve earned certifications in specialized areas like Azure Cloud, Security, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC). These certifications have deepened my expertise and kept me competitive in the rapidly changing tech landscape.

In addition to my technical skills, I pride myself on being a good people manager with strong leadership abilities. I’ve led teams through challenging projects, always striving to keep my skills current and my knowledge up-to-date. Even after two decades in the industry, I continue to work on my core technical skills and stay curious about what’s next in the world of technology.

My journey from Windows 98, NT Servers to Azure Cloud has been one of constant growth and learning. I’ve seen the tech world change dramatically, and I’ve made sure to evolve with it, always ready to tackle the next challenge.
